Blast from the past: Remington Rolling Block rimfires (VIDEO)

Gunsmith Tom Lumb takes a look at a few 19th Century No.4 Rolling Blocks in .22 and .32RF, touching on the history of one of Big Green’s most iconic rifle series.

Visiting with Brownells’ gun tech Steve Ostrem, Lumb has three of the vintage single-shot rifles to cover and explains why they were popular, remaining in production for almost a half-century as a plinking (and in larger calibers) hunting and military arm.

Did you say military service? Yup, they even put in time in the Great War in 8mm Lebel in the hands of the French as detailed below by C&Rsenal. Not bad for a rifle patented during the Civil War.
